Two and a half years ago, February 2nd to be exact, I woke up, and something inside said “go to balloon school”. Now, I was never a balloon kind of person before this. I didn’t think of balloons, I owned a gift shop (which i recently closed to pursue balloons full time, after 23 years in business).
Not having any idea where to start, I hit the internet. The first academy that came up was “The Balloon Institute”. I picked up my phone, and called the number. Much to my surprise, a human answered the phone!!! It was Ben, owner and operator (with his partner Billy) of the Balloon Institute. I was so excited I could barely contain myself. Within a day, Ben had me signed up, and on February 4, 2021, my Ballooner journey began.
I spent months, and I mean months, taking class everyday. Practicing everyday. Trying, and practicing, and sometimes failing. When I succeeded, Ben and Billy were there to cheer me on, when I failed, Ben was always honest with me, Caryn, that was not good. Then he would talk me through my issues, ANYTIME I needed him.
I learned the foundation of ballooning. THE MOST IMPORTANT part. You cant fly if you cant walk. From how to tie, to how to inflate properly, stack, store, build props, table top, helium...all of the most important parts of becoming a successful, and talented, ballooner.
My heart is, and will always be, so deeply grateful for the lessons I have learned with Ben and Billy. Most important, the support I received, emotional and educational, has been unsurpassed. These men are my friends, and I cherish them. If they didnt believe in me the way they did... I would never have had the confidence to pursue this.

I just completed my 6 day Balloon Training Course with Ben & Billy and they were great! I found the classes so effective because they were completely focused on the goals I wanted to achieve for my business. The classes also generated a lot of ideas on how I can grow my business and better my balloon skills. Ben and Billy are full of personality. They were attentive, entertaining and knowledgeable. To say that attending the training at Balloon Training Institute will change your life, is not an overstatement. Not only will you learn the techniques that the professional balloon artists keep to themselves, or learn how to start a business from scratch, but you will also get the insight and inspiration to do things that you had not originally realized was even possible. If you have an interest in balloon decorating, come to this class! You will discover an industry that can be very profitable if done the right way. This class may actually help you change the course that you are on. If you are just looking to take your party/event decorating to the next level this class is perfect for that too. The effort you put into it is up to you, but the things that Ben and Billy teach will make it possible.
The only way I can think of to describe Ben and Billy is they are both "Business in the front, but party in the back." They are very driven to make sure that you get the most out of every minute of training. They realize that this class is an investment for you and they want to make sure that you get every penny's worth and more. They do, however love to have fun. They are both very warm, hilarious, welcoming, and totally down to earth. They are both the kinds of people that you can meet once and pretty much know immediately that they will be friends for life. They are both very passionate about what they do and they will continually remind you that they want you to be successful, they want you to come back, they want to support you through all of your journey.
When you book the class, make sure you stay an extra day or two to take in the Smoky Mountains. This area is beautiful and there is so much to see and do. I would even recommend renting a cabin and perhaps making it a little mini-vacation. it's all about Business in the front but party in the back. lol
Ben and Billy's hand on class was well worth the time and money. The follow-on lifetime support is a perk that I am now finding to be just as valuable as the week-long class. I appreciate the time Ben takes to answer my decor questions and moreover the business questions. I feel fortunate to have this type of support!
I just got back from the July class and had amazing time. I had no experience with balloons and walked away with everything I needed to start my business. We did over twenty builds wow! Ben and Billy are absolutely wonderful. I celebrated my birthday while I was there and Ben and Billy along with my classmates made it a special day.
